The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) states that, within reason, an employer must provide assistive technology for any employee who needs it. A "reasonable" accommodation must be affordable. It must also be a practical solution and can not cause "undue hardship" for an employer. That means that the accommodation can not cause extreme difficulty or expense for the employer. The ADA Small Business Tax Credit or the Work Opportunity Tax Credit & Welfare To Work tax credits can help employers purchase assistive technology in the workplace.
