Service animals are animals that are specially trained to provide assistance for a person with a disability. Previously, they were thought of as dogs that helped blind people. However, service animals do much more. Not only do they provide guidance and navigation assistance for people who are blind, they also provide hearing assistance for people who are deaf, and increasingly provide help and safety for people with cognitive disabilities.
Assistance Dogs International Assistance Dogs International is an international organization dedicated to improving the training, placement, and use of assistance dogs. It has information on different types of service dogs, related laws, and more.
