Improve Caregiver Well-Being

You can't pour from an empty cup

Event Date: 2/27/2023

STOP WISHFUL THINKING.

In caregiving, it's important to manage your emotional energy as well as your time.

Wishing and hoping that something will change even though you've seen the same outcome time after time is a drain on your energy.

You might wish your sibling would stop by to give you a break.  You might wish that your loved one who has dementia will believe you when you tell them no one is trying to poison them.  It doesn't feel good to admit that these things won't change.

Accepting the way things are allows you to use your valuable emotional energy on positive things rather than repeatedly wishing for something and then getting frustrated when it doesn't happen.

This is goal number 4 suggested in an article found on DailyCaring.com.
